FROM CRISIS TO HOPE – WORKING TO ACHIEVE THE COMMON GOOD
21 FEBRUARY 2011 CAPUCHIN DAY CENTRE, BOW STREET, DUBLIN A reflection entitled From Crisis to Hope – Working to Achieve the Common Good will be launched by Bishops Raymond Field and John Kirby of the Council for Justice and Peace (CJP) of the Irish Episcopal Conference this Monday 21 February 2011. The launch will take place in the Capuchin Day Centre on Bow Street in Dublin City. This CJP reflection has been produced in the context of the forthcoming elections North and South. From Crisis to Hope is grounded in Gospel values and Catholic Social Teaching. Written at a time of considerable financial turmoil and disaffection, throughout Irish society, this reflection is inspired by a belief in the inalienable worth of every individual as created in the image and likeness of God; the protection of human life at all its stages; strengthening the family based on marriage; and it offers a critique of the dominant capitalist culture and increasing individualism which have caused growing inequality in Irish society.
